MINDFULTOBER IS BACK AND EVEN BETTER FOR 2025!

Artist and fellow Skillshare Top Teacher Shelley Skail and I have teamed up with not one but TWO amazing artists, Fatih MISTAÇOĞLU (Fab for short!) and Jutta Schneider for Mindfultober 2025! We’re bringing you this month-long art challenge to allow us to take a lovely collective and creative mindful pause at what can be a very busy time of year. If you don't know Shelley, Fab or Jutta you are in for a treat!

This challenge is all about creating a bit of breathing room in what can be a super busy time of year, so although it's a "challenge", the challenge is really to give yourself some gentle art time.

the prompts

There are just 4 prompts which are very broad and can be interpreted in absolutely any medium, and in any way you wish. There is no requirement to do them all - you can pick your favourite, or have a go at them all! This year the prompts are:

  1. Sky

  2. Flowing

  3. Grow

  4. Waves

how the challenge works

  1. Post your artworks on Instagram based on the prompts throughout October using the hashtag #mindfultober2024

  2. Tag all the hosts @melrye @shelleyskail @fabworqs and @ju_he_sch *in your images* so we can see your lovely pieces

  3. Save the below image and re-post it when you share your art (it can be the second image!)

  4. Let us know in your image caption how you found the process - reflect on how you felt, or how you approached the artwork mindfully

  5. Feel free to interpret the prompts however you like, using whatever medium you enjoy!

prizes

We are giving away:

- 3 yearly Skillshare premium memberships
- A custom Procreate brush set made by Jutta

Winners will be chosen at random from all qualifying entries. Each artwork you share gives you an entry into the draw (max one per prompt), so the more you share, the more chances you have of winning!

low on creative mojo?

If you’d love to join in but are feeling stuck or uninspired, all of us hosts will be posting draw-along tutorials on our YouTube channels throughout the month, so feel free to join in that way!

I’m so looking forward to it!
