HeY THERE! I’m Mel

I create colourful, fun and playful art

My work celebrates humour, silliness and the unexpected to create joyful pieces which have a broad appeal to both children and adults.

I like to work in mixed media, and combine drawing, collage and paper cutting which I often manipulate digitally, although I’m always experimenting with new materials!

I love to invite other people into my creative process: co-creating projects is my favourite way to make Art!

Teaching is very much part of who I am

I am a qualified teacher, and worked as a Head of Art in a college for 15 years. I have also taught in Universities, community spaces, Art galleries and at outdoor events, and I also teach online.

I have taught a wide range of subjects including drawing, fashion illustration, textiles, sculpture, life drawing, graphic design, illustration, photography, architecture, life drawing, mindful art-making and more!

I have worked with students from age 4 to 94, with a range of physical disabilities and neurodiverse conditions. I am passionate about inclusivity: I strongly believe everyone can make Art.
